Minister Ring in Julianstown

-

NIAMH Uí Loinsigh, Chairperson of Julianstown & District Community Association and committee members, together with local residents were delighted to welcome Minister Michael Ring, TD for Rural & Community Development to cut the ribbon on the beautiful Victorian Clock and Lights funded under the Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

Also on hand to mark this wonderful occasion were Fergus O’Dowd, T.D. , Declan Breathnach, TD, Senator Ged Nash , John Higgins, CEO of East Meath CE Scheme and the

Dean Katherine Poulton.

The J.D.C.A. has once again had a remarkable year, with the Tidy Towns Group achieving their first Green Flag for the Village Garden and winning both Municipal and County awards from Meath Co. Co. Pride of Place for their nature and wildlife project. The children of Ballygarth Manor also won Best Youth Project with their wildflower bed and the many Sunflowers planted around the village.

They are also keeping a watchful eye on the ever increasing traffic going through the village and are busy lobbying for a by-pass with the assistance of TD’s, Senator and Councillors. Niamh Uí Loinsigh and Brendan Logue recently addressed the Oireachtas Joint Committee on transport in Leinster House on this matter.

‘ This will be a difficult and long drawn out process, but if we all band together and put pressure on the Department of Transport we will get there!’ Niamh stated.

The clock and lights are a wonderful addition to Julianstown and have been much admired in recent months.
