Gormanston Park hosted Girl Guides from across the globe

GORMANSTON Park, Co Meath played host last week to Irish Girl Guides members from all over the world, welcoming 23 Girl Guide Leaders from 18 countries across the globe to a leadership developmen­t seminar.

This is the first time Irish Girl Guides (IGG) is hosting the internatio­nal Juliette Low Seminar - a week-long training for young Guide Leaders that is organised by the World Associatio­n of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts ( WAGGGS) every three years.

The seminar has taken place in many different countries since it was first held in Our Chalet Guiding World Centre in Switzerlan­d in 1932 but this is the first time for it to come to Ireland.

Participan­ts visited Newgrange, the V&W Recycling Centre in Drogheda and Sonairte National Ecology Centre where they helped out with weeding and other gardening tasks.

The Guide Leaders attending the Irish hub have travelled from as far away as Lebanon, Malawi, Ghana, Australia, New Zealand, Madagascar, USA and Barbados as well as other parts of Europe,

THE Beach Management Committee Laytown/Bettystown/Mornington and IPKSA Irish Power Kite & Sandyacht Associatio­n are hosting a ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite!’ event on November 23rd and 24th at Bettystown Beach.

Built it bought it, got it as a present or still sitting in a press, try it tried it loved it liked it or just want to try it, so let’s go fly it! This fun event will take place at 11am and 1.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
