Dunleer AC is Cross Country Club of the Year

Donnelly made light work of the hilly slopes of Donore as he scorched round the challengin­g 5K cross-country course in a fast 16:59 to come home a clear winner. He looks to be in great form and a good winter should see his times tumble.

Next in was Paul Reilly in fourth spot in 19:46, followed by Tony Corcoran who was 12th in 22:12, while young Daniel Danko was 14th in 22:59.

D&D’s first woman across the line, in 28th place, was Michele McCullough who ran the course in 25:24, while Audrey Corcoran was 60th in 34:47.

BRIAN Collins of Star of the Sea AC clocked an impressive time of 38:22 to finish second in his age category - M50 - in last weekend’s Annagassan Viking 10K race.

DUNLEER AC won the Best Cross-Country Club of the Year award at last Friday night’s Louth Athletics Annual Awards in Dundalk’s Crowne Plaza Hotel.

There were individual honours for the club, too, as Jack Boylan picked up the Best Senior Athlete accolade and Karen Costello was named Best Master Athlete.

There was success in the Juvenile section too as various awards were presented to Karlis Kaugars, Cliodhna Reilly, Grace Mc Evoy and Cormac Greene.

Dunleer clubman Micheàl Mulligan is chairman of the Louth Athletics committee.

Cushinstow­n open indoor sports day

CUSHINSTOW­N AC open indoor sports day will be held this Sunday November 24th from 11am.

Sprints (60m) for all age groups up to U18, start at 11am, followed by field events (long jump, high jump, shot putt), athletes may move up one age group where there is no competitio­n in their own age group.
