LOUTH LOOKING GOOD AWARDS.

There was some success for those involved in the local Tidy Towns groups in the recent Louth Looking Good Awards 2019.

Termonfeckin received a Fyffe’s Special Merit Award for what was described as “such a good presentation” of the village with the adjudicators also remarking that “what you do well, you do brilliantly”.

Going through the different judging sections, floral displays, brilliant colour and great landscaping certainly caught the eyes of the adjudicators who also stated that the “Keep Calm and Don’t Litter” signs are having an impact.

The main negative was in relation to the Car Park at Seapoint which the adjudicators described as “abandoned”, particularly given the recent “Green Coast Status” awarded to the beach. However, we all know this is being worked on and will look great when completed.

There were also awards given to Orchard Villas and Rath View Housing Estates. Orchard Villas received a 2nd placing in Category C: 26-40 Houses. The adjudicators said the overall impact of the estate is excellent and is really a contender for 1st place, just losing out by the narrowest of margins. “A superb standard of presentation and maintenance.

The marks were 458 out of 500. In Category D: Over 40 Houses, Rath View received the Adjudicators’ Award. According to the adjudicators, “Rath View is a beautiful estate which is presented to such a high standard that, if sustained, will see you compete for a top three position before too long”. Marks were 446 out of 500.

In Sandpit there was a Shop Front Award for Mc Grane’s XL. The adjudicators commented that “Sandpit made an unbelievable and indeed unprecedented impact when entering the Louth Looking Good Awards last year and we are delighted to report that you have matched and indeed exceeded that standard this year.

“You really are the one to watch as you simply ooze potential and have already demonstated a vision and commitment that will take you far in all tidy towns related initiatives”.

The adjudicators said “Baltray continues to improve and with its stunning location and quaint ambience, oozes potential. You are very close to the winning podium and attention to detail will get you there”.

In the Louth Litter League Results 2019, Termonfeckin, which is classed as a Large Village, received a Gold Award. Both Baltray and Sandpit are in the

Small Village Category and each received a Gold Award.
