Tullyallen tractor crew ready to go
NECRET who support cutting edge cancer and treatment in the Oncology and Haematology Unit, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital were deeply appreciative when some of the organizing committee for the Tullyallen Tractor Run recently visited the Unit and presented a cheque for a massive €15, 444.25.
Firmly established in the Christmas period calendar of many from local areas and beyond the famous annual Tullyallen Tractor Run organised by a group of local tractor enthusiasts is getting ready for its 5th year.
It is also not only one of the biggest events of its kind in the Northeast but the entire country and this year it is expected to be no different.
Starting from Tullyallen Parochial Hall the run takes in a route not too far from the Banks of River Boyne and Battle of Boyne site, then crossing the M1 motorway passing the Pope’s Monument in Monasterboice before heading West towards the Co. Meath Border.
On December 27th this year’s Tullyallen Tractor Run will take place in memory of the widely admired and respected late Gerry Healy who was a founder of the now famous Run which has captured the imagination of the public with participants coming from far and wide along with the many families who descend on the small village to view the polished-up tractors, vintages cars, trucks, jeeps and motorbikes many of which are decorated for the
Christmas festivities. Before the run and afterwards when refreshments and entertainment are provided locally there is also an immense sense of community and Christmas cheer.
Very importantly the organisers and supporters of this wonderful event have contributed significantly to two worthy local charities namely NECRET and Tullyallen Carers who will both be the beneficiaries this year.
Registration with refreshments will take place at the Tullyallen Parochial Hall from Midday with the run starting at 1.00 pm. The run finishes at The Morning Star for further refreshments. More details on their Facebook Tullyallen Tractor Run.
