A Christmas miracle as Aaron flies back home

- By ALISON COMYN

A Christmas wish has come true for the Clifford family in Duleek, with the news that Aaron is finally home after his horrific accident at Snetterton in July.

Just 19 weeks after the horrific motorbike crash which nearly claimed his life, the photograph of the talented rider sitting on a scheduled flight from Heathrow last Wednesday was a joy to behold, considering just how bad the Duleek teenager was after his crash in Snetterton in July.

“What Aaron has come through is nothing short of a miracle, as he lay in a coma for many weeks, with us not knowing what the outcome would be, and if his head injuries would cause him long term problems,” said a spokesperson for the family. “The strain on the entire family with both parents Kenny and Michelle, camped in the various hospitals since the accident, and the relevant expense that has been put on the family was horrendous.”

His dad says Aaron has continued to get stronger in the last few weeks and is making good progress.

“The time finally came to take Aaron home to Ireland and he is spending a few days in the Lourdes hospital in Drogheda, and we hope to move on to the National Rehab in Dun Laoghaire this week,” said Kenny.

We are so grateful to all of the staff in the UK hospitals, and a massive thank you to the incredible BSB medical team for all they did for Aaron in the crucial minutes after the crash. I’d like to thank all of the East Anglia air ambulance crew for lifting Aaron from the track, they truly are life savers.” Hopefully the rehab in Dun Laoghaire will see Aaron prosper and get back to his old self.
