Joe’s gone barking mad to save the trees

-

IF you go down to the woods today, you really could be in for a big surprise!

Local comedian Joe Rooney - AKA Mr December – is just one of the brave souls to strip off for a “Calendar Girls” type photoshoot to create The Louth Tree Calendar..

Carole Wardlaw and Eimear O’Kane produced the calendar to highlight the issue of healthy trees being felled for no good reason and also, to encourage people to consider planting trees. After all, trees make the air we breathe..

“We are highlighting the damage to our environment by the extensive tree felling and hedgerow destruction during nesting season happening in Ireland,” says local actor and singer Eimear, who is also one of the months! “One of our models, actor, comedian and writer Joe Rooney, very kindly agreed to take part in this project and can be seen on the front cover of the calendar.”

Tastefully shot, the ten ladies and two men are shielded by strategically placed bark.

Another two of the models Rhian and Erinna have recently been crowned winner and runner up of the Miss Voluptuous Ireland and UK. 2019, so congratulations to them..

Most of the photographs were taken during National Tree week 2019, with the kind permission of Patricia Barrow at Listoke House & Gardens, Drogheda, Co. Louth.

All proceeds from the sale of this calendar, priced just €10, will go to the National Tree Council of Ireland, which is a registered charity.

The Louth Tree Calendar will be on sale throughout Co. Louth in “The Design Gallery” and “Flowers at the Gate” St.Lawrence St, Drogheda.
