Droichead springs to life

-

EXPERIENCE the joy and drama of theatre with the Droichead Arts Centre who have just finalised their new programme for Spring 2020.

The arts centre is now in its 6th season of Droichead Presents Drama:Theatre Club which continues to go from strength to strength. Similar to a book club, Theatre Club audience members see the play and then share the experience in the café/bar after the show.

Theatre Club includes tickets to seven plays between January and April for just €80 and would make an ideal Christmas present for the Theatre goer in your life.

The selection is both varied and wide ranging featuring inspiring new Irish plays, exhilarating performances and powerful theatrical experiences.

Theatre Club has been a hugely successful initiative for Droichead Arts Centre, with membership selling out seasonally and actors and creatives regularly joining the audience for discussions after the show.

You can book online at www.droichead.com or call 041 9833946 to be part of the Drama at Droichead.

The seven performances include Trad by Mark Doherty, a hilarious, absurd and poignant tale of a 100-year-old Irishman… and his father! Together they set out to discover the son they never knew he had.

Take off your cornflakes by Rose Henderson and Pat Nolan, which is inspired by Rose’s Dad, Jack, who had Alzheimer’s but couldn’t remember he had cancer. This is a tender, funny, heart-warming portrait of marriage with the best ‘Dad Jokes’ you’ve ever heard. Howie the Rookie by Mark O’Rowe is a thrilling journey of two men and a Dublin City gone wild, taking place on Thursday, February 20th at 8pm (€18/€16).

The Curious Case of Albert Cashier: Lincoln’s Lady Soldier explores the extraordinary life of the Clogherhead born transgender soldier who was born as Jennie Hodgers in Clogherhead but who enlisted in the Union Army in the American Civil War and became a decorated hero.

The other theatre club plays include Maura Laverty - This was Your Life by Yvonne Quinn and Bairbre Ní Chaoimh, The Man in the Woman’s Shoes Written and Performed by Mikel Murfi and I Hear You and Rejoice, also by Mikel Murfi.
