Benny McGuill leads in Dunleer
LOCAL teams had a field day In the Louth N.A.C.A. programme at Dunleer.
Of the four races . Dunleer won the County Junior event as well as the Under 14 and Under 16 races. The Under 12 winners were St. Fursey’s, Haggardstown.
In the main event for the Jim Watters Cup, Dunleer supplied the first five runners home, and had their scoring six inside the first ten. Benny McGuill was the individual winner from B. Flynn and his brother, Noel McGuill.

Murphy (Grangebellew) . 19 runners. a cracker from the start with Breen (Offaly), Scully (Laois), McArdle and Carragher (Louth), and almost the entire Dublin team fighting a furious battle through wind and rain to half-way where the clinging mud began to break the field up.
With eight hundred yards to go Breen .(Offaly), the Regional Novice Champion, led by five yards from Wallace, but the Dublin junior champion came back to win.
At the presentation Mr. Joe Horkins thonked Rev. Bro. Paul, Prior, St. Mary’s, Drumcar, for the use of their grounds.
