The countdown begins to our Sports Awards

TICKETS are now on sale for what is the biggest annual celebration of local sporting achievement - the 2019 Drogheda Independent Coca-Cola Sport Star Awards.

Coca-Cola have been the main sponsors of this event since its inception back in 1989 and associate sponsors the Westcourt Hotel will host the glitzy ceremony on the night of Saturday February 8th.

It is always one of the great social nights of the year in Drogheda, attended by local dignitaries, and we’re delighted to have the ever-popular former RTE Sport presenter Michael Lyster back as MC.

After a welcome drinks reception and a fantastic four-course meal, the main business of the evening starts.

The wonderful accomplishments of each of the 12 monthly winners will be celebrated as they cranks up a couple of notches as the main award recipients - Hall of Fame, Team of the Year, Young Sport Star and overall Sport Star of the Year - are revealed.

The overall winner will be following in the footsteps of local sporting legends such as Gary Kelly, Des Smyth and Shane Horgan who have previously won top prize during the 31-year history of the awards.

After the last trophy is presented, the night is only beginning, though! A live band and then a disco will keep everyone entertained into the early hours of Sunday 9th.
