White leads the charge for Boyne club at Christmas 5k

THE number of senior members of Boyne AC participat­ing in local races is increasing every week and more than 30 of them took on the challenge of the Christmas 5k on Sunday.

Hosted superbly by Drogheda and District, the race began and finished in the Lourdes Stadium and the winter sunshine certainly showed off the wonderful local facility at its best.

First over the line for Boyne was Andrew White in 17:42, fourth overall and the winner in his category. Catherine Tiernan Bell was next to finish as ninth lady in 21:36.

Ciaran Briscoe, getting his pace back after the Dublin Marathon, finished in 23:31, Jillian Connor - paced by Rebecca Carolan - got a PB in 25:25 and Brian Comiskey followed them in 27:25.

Michael Black and Dominic Fagan finished together with PBs of 28:27 and Mairead Hallinan, after a recent illness, finished with Sandra Mc Guinness and Nicola Veale in 29:10.

Blathnaid Wall also got a PB in 30:29 and Michelle Crosbie, with the help of her support crew, finished just over the half-hour mark. Joan Cadden and Karen Comiskey finished in 31:52, followed by Jenny Connor, Nick Ferguson, Jackie Clarke, Lisa Collier and Deirdre McTeggart who were all inside 35 minutes. Helen Dowling ran a PB of 37 minutes. Catherine and Ellie Russell ran with Paula Hughes, followed by Cara and Louise Fagan.

Lisa Marie Mooney and Marián McGouran Caddell finished inside 37 minutes, with a three-minute PB for Lisa Marie, while Yvonne Walsh also ran a PB time of 38 minutes and was followed by Charlene and Brian Byrne, with Charlene delighted with her PB on the day.
