GET OUT AND MARCH FOR OUR TOWN

- By HUBERT MURPHY

THE residents of Drogheda will stand together on Saturday as a community unites against the drug gangs, who have cast a shadow of fear and intimidation across the town.

Following the brutal slaying of a teenager and the shooting of a taxi driver, the mood for action has become very clear.

This Saturday, at 2pm, a gathering will take place on the town’s main street, following a march from the bottom of the Grove Hill at 1.30pm.

Mayor Paul Bell says it’s a chance for the ordinary people to send a message to those involved in violence.

Even FF leader Micheal Martin got a taste of life in the town during a walkabout, one woman saying how helicopters waken her frightened children at night as the Gardai target the drug dealers.

‘IT is important to remember that Keane was a child, a young boy, trying to find his way in life, he has now lost his life and his family have lost their loved son and brother.’

The words of Chief Supt Christopher Mangan at a press conference last week, detailing the circumstances of the death of teenager Keane Mulready Woods from Beechwood Drive.

He was savagely murdered, his body cut up and left in a bag in Priorswood, his head in a burning car in Dublin 3.

‘ This is a brutal and savage attack on a child and is completely unacceptable in any normal democratic society,’ the Chief Supt added.

His appeal is now directed towards those in Drogheda who know anything about the murder.

Keane was last seen in Drogheda by his family at approximately 6.00pm on the evening of Sunday 12th January 2020. At this time Keane was wearing a Navy Hugo Boss Tracksuit, Black Hugo Boss Runners (brown sole, black laces), Red / Orange Canada Goose Jacket and a Gucci Baseball Cap.

At approximately 9.55pm on Monday 13th January 2020 Gardaí responded to a 999 call that a bag containing human remains had been found at Moatview Drive, Priorswood, Dublin 17. A black “Puma” sports bag was recovered which contained partial human remains.

At approximately 1.30am on Wednesday 15th January 2020 Gardaí responded to a call from Dublin Fire Brigade stating that there was a vehicle on fire at Trinity Terrace, Dublin 3. Further partial human remains were recovered from this vehicle.

A number of searches were conducted in the Drogheda area on the 14th January, one search location at Rathmullen Park sealed off. It is believed that is where he was killed. Certain items were recovered and are being examined.

Investigating Gardaí are making the following appeals:
