Termonfeckin make a point in Ardee

-

CONOR Brennan’s strike secured a point for Termonfeckin as they continued their recent good form with a well-deserved point at Townspark on Friday night last.

Hosts Ardee Celtic were top of the table going into the game on the back of three consecutive wins, but they found themselves under pressure from the start.

Despite some lovely football from Termonfeckin, though, they couldn’t get the ball in the net and Ardee then took the lead against the run of play through Trevor Farrell.

The away side weren’t about to throw in the towel, though, and soon hauled themselves back level thanks to Brennan’s fine strike.

There were no goals in the second half, but it was not for the want of trying by Termonfeckin who put on a great performance, notably from Fola Oki at rightback and the midfield pair Adam Kirwan and Camon Balfe.

However, Ardee didn’t help their own cause by having two player sent off.

The result means Ardee are still four points clear at the top, having played an extra game compared to their two nearest rivals, while Termonfeckin are up to fifth, having played more matches than each of the three teams below them.

Quay Celtic unexpectedly went down 2-1 at home to Carrick Rovers the same night.

The Dundalk men lost Terence Kelly to a serious-looking injury, conceded twice in five minutes and then missed a penalty in the second half. Rock Celtic won 4-0 away to St Dominic’s.
