HARESTOWN NS ENROLLMENT.

St. Patrick’s NS Harestown is enroling pupils, starting Junior Infants in September 2020. Please contact the school office on 0419822112 to request a form. Parents and children are invited to an open afternoon in the school on Thursday 6th February from 1pm to 4pm to meet the Principal and take a look around

And, for those who were on the Roll Book, eh, few years ago, Patrick’s NS Harestown is 50 years in its current location this year and are looking for old photos from Ballymakenny, Fieldstown and Harestown schools. Please bring the photos to the school between 9am and 2.30pm (don’t be late or there will be detention) any day so they can be scanned. Photos will be displayed at a special celebration day, later this year.

NAOMH MAIRTIN LIGHTS UP.

As part of RTE’s Operation Transformation season, in conjunction with the GAA’s “we are community”initiative, Naomh Mairtin will be lighting up it’s walking track each Monday, from 7pm to 8.30, from January 13th to February 17th. It’s open to all in the community. Personally, second to cycling, I think walking is way up there with the best exercise you can bestow on yourself and...........it’s free. So, no excuses.

MONASTERBOICE’S TOURISM AND TIDY TOWNS

The Sponsor a Tree project is already a very successful one and people have really come on board during 2019. As a result there were over 100 trees planted at Killineer and Priestown. It is hoped to plant lots more trees for 2020 and the committee, after gaining many over the Christmas period, is again looking for Sponsors in the New Year. Locations for planting include Ferney Park, Killineer and Priestown, pollinator parks and an orchard of fruit trees in an area behind the Northbound bus stop opposite the Monasterboice Inn. Your tree can include a personalized place name made by the very talented volunteer Kathleen Smyth. A great alternative New Year present perhaps or indeed ‘In Memory’ of a loved one. Tree sponsorship is €50. You can contact us on 0830562641 or email monasterboicetourism@ gmail.com.

There are two vacant CE positions for the Group under the Dunleer Community Employment Company. Duties include DIY, mowing, strimming, painting, litter control, planting etc. Please contact Dunleer CE on 0416851515 or dunleerce@eircom. net for further information.
