Win for Hunterstown

-

HUNTERSTOWN KILKERLEY EMMETS 1-10 0-5

HUNTERSTOWN got their first win of the new season when they proved too strong for Kilkerley Emmets in the Paddy Sheelan Group E game at Darver on Sunday morning.

Rovers had lost their opening game against St Marys but looked the more likely winners for much of this contest against a Kilkerley side who had drawn with Mattock Rangers in their first outing during the week.

The conditions contributed to a low-scoring first half but the decisive score came from Brendan Lennon who scored the only goal of the game to help his side lead by 1-2 to 0-2 at half time.

Glen Matthews took the game by the scruff of the neck in the second half as he scored five points, while Paul Carrie and Alan Landy were also on target to ensure their side came out on top.

On a disappointing outing for Kilkerley, Tadgh McEnaney made an impression with four points.
