Two held in Keane murder

TWO men were arrested in relation to the brutal slaying of Drogheda teenager Keane Mulready Woods last week.

They were questioned at Drogheda and Balbriggan Garda stations in relation to the murder of the youth, whose funeral took place just two weeks ago.

The men were arrested at two separate locations last Thursday morning, in a co-ordinated operation involving over 20 gardai.

One man was detained after he was taken from a house in the Rathmullen Park area shortly after 7.30am, while another man was arrested by officers at another estate at the same time.

Keane Mulready-Woods was last seen alive on the evening of Sunday, January 12th last close to Dominick’s Bridge.

The men were arrested at two separate locations last Thursday morning, in a co-ordinated operation involving over 20 gardai.

One man was detained after he was taken from a house in the Rathmullen Park area shortly after 7.30am, while another man was arrested by officers at another estate at the same time.

The two suspects can be detained for up to seven days without charge under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, as this legislatio­n is used to deal with suspected gang crime.

The arrest of the two men from Drogheda came exactly one week after the burial of the 17-year-old victim, and five weeks since his partial remains were found at two separate locations in Dublin.

Keane Mulready-Woods was last seen alive by his family on the evening of Sunday, January

12th. Gardaí believe he was murdered and probably tortured almost immediatel­y after he was last seen alive by his family.

He was laid to rest on Thursday February 13th, with parish priest Fr Phil Gaffney saying ‘In the name of God let it end now’.
