Three ladies on the way!

-

LOCAL hairdresser Emma Lennon from Allure Salon in Mornington and her partner, David Hopkins, made the most surprising discovery at the ultrasound room at OLOL hospital last November. While attending their first scan since they had found out Emma was pregnant, they found out they would soon become parents to not one, not two but three babies!

As they watched the screen during that first scan, the sonographer exclaimed that there was ‘more than one heartbeat’! Emma, whose dad is a twin, had been hoping she might be lucky enough to have twins herself.

After trying for two years to get pregnant, she was thrilled at the prospect of two babies in one go. But they never expected that there could be more than two babies in there. As the sonographer worked to locate the little heartbeats, she found one, then another and to their complete surprise, another! ‘It’s Triplets’ the sonographer told them as Emma sat staring at the screen in shock and David almost fell to the floor in surprise!

Delighted, they could not wait to get home to tell daughter Kacey, who is 9 years old and has been longing for a sister or brother. Kacey could scarcely believe it when they told her she would be getting three little siblings in one go! Once they had gotten over the wonderful surprise and maybe a little bit of a shock, they decided they had better start preparing for the arrival of these little ones.

First things first, the decided to find out if they would be having three boys or three girls. As it was one egg that had split into three, they knew the babies would be identical and the same gender. A scan in January revealed that they would be having three baby girls.

With lots to do, they are trying to get organised ahead of the babies’ arrival in May.

Changing the car to a 7 seater is an issue facing them, getting a triple buggy, buying 3 car seats, 3 moses baskets and 3 cots – not to mention a whole load of nappies is going to be very costly.

And so, Emma and David are bargain hunting and looking for any local companies who make baby products, to hopefully send some baby products their way.

So far, Elave, Natural Medicine Company, Lil-Lets and Burts Bees have all sent bundles of products over for the babies.

All the companies sending products are getting some good promotion via Emma’s social media as on mams.ie, where Emma is a guest blogger for maternity and baby products.

If any companies would like to get involved to have their baby products blogged about by Emma and her soon to arrive three little girls, please get in touch with siobhan@mumstown.ie
