Goal-den Glens hold off Seans
GLEN EMMETS SEAN MCDERMOTTS 4-10 2-10
FOUR first half goals helped Glen Emmets remain joint top of the Kevin Mullen Shield Group B as they held off a Sean McDermotts fightback at Darver on Saturday afternoon.
Daniel Grimes was the star of the show as he grabbed a hat-trick before finishing with a personal tally of 3-4.
It was Lorcan Myles who started the scoring for the McDermotts with a point after two minutes, but Grimes soon took centre stage as he kicked an equaliser before scoring his first goal on six minutes.
He had a second goal on 12 minutes before Keith Lynch added the third goal on 15 minutes. However, Grimes wasn’t finished yet and just before the break he completed the hat-trick to make it 4-5 to 0-4 at the break.
The Sean’s put in a spirited second half performance although the match was over as a contest at the break, as Lorcan Myles pulled back two goals while Danny Reilly and Tony Kelly were among the points.
However, the Tullyallen side were never in any real danger and scores from Robert Byrne and Keelan O’Neill eased them over the line.
