Mitchels gain control after the break

-

JOHN MITCHELS ST NICHOLAS 1-9 1-5

JOHN Mitchels joined Lannleire at the top of the Kevin Mullen Shield with a fourpoint victory over St Nicholas at Darver on Saturday afternoon.

In what proved to a competitive encounter, the Mitchels had to come from behind at the break before they could claim their first win of the campaign.

The Nicks had lost out to Lannleire in their opening game but put in a determined first half display that included a goal from a Paudi Downey penalty.

However, Andrew Bingham also found the net for the Mitchels to cut that Nicks advantage at the break to 1-4 to 1-3.

The second period saw the Ballybailie side get on top and points from John Gallagher and Mikey Nulty helped them come out on top with the Drogheda men only able to add one point to their tally.
