Clare case of a point dropped for Meath

-

CLARE MEATH 3-12 3-12

MEATH were stunned by two late goals and then an equalising point as they lost ground on the leading pack in Division 2 of the Lidl NFL in Dunbeg on Sunday.

It was Grainne Nolan’s point that forced a share of the spoils after Meath had earlier led 3-10 to 1-8, 14 minutes into the second half.

The visitors were ahead by two points, 1-8 to 1-6, at halftime following an impressive opening-half display. Minor star Emma Duggan was again in outstanding form with six points and Bridgetta Lynch scored the goal, while the remaining two points came from Vikki Wall.

Clare hit the opening two points of the second half to draw level, but Meath hopes were boosted by two third-quarter goals.

Duggan accounted for the first following great work by Kelsey Nesbitt and when Kelly Harris found the net it left the scoreboard reading 3-10 to 1-8.

Meath looked headed for a comfortable win at that stage, but a succession of wides was to prove costly and Clare were rewarded for their persistence with those goals and they snatched the equalising score with virtually the last kick of the game.

Eamonn Murray’s side are sitting third in the table on seven points, behind unbeaten Kerry (12) and Monaghan who are on nine.
