TONY GREGORY.
Sad to report the passing of well known Drogheda man, Tony Gregory, a few weeks back.
Tony was the brother of our own Marie McCullough, the husband of Una and father to Lisa, Alan, Anthony and pre deceased Sharon. He was also a doting grandfather to Hayden, Taylor and Caoimhe.
Formerly, Tony worked in Rooney and Halpin, and latterly in insurance. He was a singer of note and, in fact, was an integral member of St. Peter’s Male Voice Choir, for over 20 years.
Tony’s outgoing personality will be sorely missed around the Drogheda area, but it’s especially his loving family that we send out our deepest condolences via this column. done by our Tidy Towns people, Monasterboice is about to resemble an explosion in a custard factory, what, with the imminence of the blooming of daffodils on our road sides and parks.
Also, due to the terrific responce from the ‘Sponsor a Tree’ campaign, there will be a multitude of trees planted very soon.
So, the show is about to commence and of course we can all sit back and enjoy it.
But, we can’t relax. Keeping a community neat and tidy is not exclusivity a spectator show, but something that we all have parts to play in. And, our biggest contributions are binary, ie pick up any unsightly rubbish (isn’t it all, says you?) and, for the love of all things proper, don’t throw away any thrash in the first place. Simple really.
You’ll not read anything related to the science of rocket launching in this column.
The Tidy Towns committee would like to remind all that there are two Community Employment positions available. 19.5 hours per week. Duties include DIY, planting, mowing, painting, litter control etc.
Applicants must be over 21 years and in receipt of a qualifying Social Welfare payment for 1 year or more.
