Submissions sought for the Meath Development Plan
DROGHEDA City Status Group (DCSG) has reminded individuals and groups that submissions for consideration in the next Meath Co. Development Plan must arrive with Meath County Council on or before 4pm this Friday, 6th March 2020.
Full details regarding the plan and how to make a submission can be accessed on the relevant section of the Meath Co. Council website at http://countydevelopmentplanreview.meath.ie/
“Apart from our organisation making a submission, we would encourage other organisations and the general public (including our political representatives in Drogheda; South Louth and East Meath) to make their submissions with a view to aiding the much needed momentum required for Drogheda to assume its Regional Growth Centre (RGC) status as enounced in the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy Plan (RSES) for the benefit of everyone living in the Greater Drogheda area,” said Anna McKenna, Chairperson of the DCSG.
“It appears that the Louth and Meath County Development Plans are “out of sync,” which doesn’t help in attempting to develop one cohesive plan for the Greater Drogheda area,” continued Anna, who expressed concern that a Joint Urban Area Plan has yet to be developed for Greater Drogheda by the two Councils, nor has a proposed appointment of a “Senior Executive Officer” been made to co-ordinate the Greater Drogheda area as it evolves into Ireland’s next city.
