Drogheda cares for homeless still going

-

I HAVE come across the great volunteers from the Drogheda Cares for the Homeless group, out and about on Monday and Fridays on West Street. From what I can see, the service is still needed. They put up a great post recently. It reads.... ‘Another week of serving our homeless done. Both Monday night and Friday night were busy. With the seriousness of what’s happening in the world at the moment, it is always good to see them pop by. There health and safety is a concern.

‘Numbers are not dropping which is a serious factor.

‘Monday night, the lovely Ronnie made wedges, beans and sausages which went down a treat with extra going away with whomever needed.

‘Everyone was in good form which we love too see.

‘ The lovely Sandra was on hand with fresh clothes, sleeping bags, footwear and toiletries to whoever needed, with extra in the fear of not getting down Friday night.

‘Food parcels were also handed out by the lovely Charlene, all with extra just in case.

‘Friday night’s dinner was made by the lovely Maria, homemade stew, I can still smell it in the air..

‘Please everyone keep our homeless in our prayers with this pandemic. it’s an unimaginable time we have ahead.

‘Please everyone stay safe and keep an eye out for one and other.

‘ Thank you to our sandwich and bakers crew for making it into us on serve nights we truly appreciate it.

‘ Thank you to you the public for your continued support we are forever grateful.’

So the message is clear, the service is doing great work in the town at the present time.

?? ?? One thing that brightens up any walk at the moment is a lovely floral display so if you are walking down the Ballymakenny Road just stop and admire the arrangement at the front of Matson Lodge. A work of art.
