WE WISH “GOD SPEED” to Miss Bernadette Wogan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Wogan, Davidstown, Slane, who left for Cabra, Clarence Rock, South Australia, recently, She will enter the Dominican Convent. Her parents received a rare shock when news of the train disaster at Harrow reached them on Wednesday, but luckily the train on which their daughter was travelling had passed through the station some twenty minutes before the tragedy occurred. e

SOME MEMBERS of Slane Guild I.C.A. passed on valuable hints on upholstery which they had acquired at a recent course which they attended, to the members in general at a demonstration which was held in the New Hall on Tuesday night. The demonstrators displayed an excellent knowledge of their subject and the Guild as a whole will benefit from the demonstration.

The Group has been twelve years in existence, during which time members have come and gone, succeeding newcomers bringing additional lustre to the line. All through these years, one man at least remained to coach the members and to urge them on to greater efforts. I refer to Willie Denver. This year his services will again be forthcoming, and rehearsals have already commenced on the popular “The New Gosson.”

SINCERE SYMPATHY has been extended to Mr. John Phelan, Jeanville, Slane, on the death of his sister. Sister M. Aiden Phelan .which occurred at the Brigidine Convent, Tullow, last week. She had spent all her life at Tullow and was a Golden Jubilarian. Another sister of Mr. Phelan’s is Sister M. Lazerian, Mercy Convent, Sklbbereen, while many other members of his family also gave their lives to the service of God.

MISS PHYLLIS O’CONNELL. I.C.A. Organlsr, attended the inaugural meeting of Rathkenny Guild on Friday night when there was an attendance of approximately 30 ladies. The Guild intends holding weekly meetings on Thursday nights, and new members are invited to come along and avail of the various demonstrations, etc., which the energetic committee intends to organise during the coming Winter months.
