Simon Community launch ‘Run at Home’ fundraiser to support Louth services

-

Dublin Simon Community has launched a virtual run to help raise funds for its vital services across Dublin, Wicklow, Kildare, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan.

The ‘Run @ Home’ campaign challenges participants to run a marathon over the course of a month, all the while abiding by the 2km distance restrictions. The campaign is suitable for both first-time runners and seasoned sprinters and will run until the end of May.

Upon registration at www.dubsimon.ie, participants will receive a unique page on the Every Day Hero fundraising platform, to help generate sponsorship from friends and family. This page can then be linked with runners’ personal Fitbit, Strava or MapMyFitness accounts, which will automatically update the Every Day Hero page so supporters can track your progress.

Head of Fundraising & Communications, Emma Kilkenny said: ‘Like so many other organisations, Covid-19 has brought our usual calendar of events and fundraising activities to a standstill. We have had to think creatively to ensure that we receive the vital funds we need to run our services, where our brave front-line staff and nurses are striving to safeguard those most vulnerable during this pandemic.’

‘We really think the Run @ Home will be a great incentive to keep healthy and active during these uncertain times and provide us with a way of coming together by staying apart, all the while raising vital funds for our services.’

The Run @ Home campaign is part of the Simon Home Run 2020 campaign, with Simon Home Run 2020 running t-shirts being available for €5 (plus postage and packaging) upon registration.

Register for the Run @ Home now at https://www. dubsimon.ie/get-involved/our-events/the-simon-run-athome/. Those who cannot participate in the Run @ Home are asked to please consider donating what they can to www.dubsimon.ie.
