‘Quality of Life’ team has been assisting both Community Call Centre and the local authority’s Wellbeing promotion
THE Louth County Council ‘Quality of Life’ team has been assisting in both the Louth Covid Community Call Centre and more recently in the local authority’s Wellbeing promotion.
There is a significant impact on everyone in the community, from young to old, due to the current lockdown restrictions and the council’s website is signposting supports and wellbeing activities to provide guidance and assistance for all.
‘In This Together’ is part of the Government Action Plan response to the COVID-19 outbreak, where it acknowledges the importance of people maintaining their wellbeing and resilience to help see them through this unprecedented challenge.
‘In This Together’ includes a huge range of activities that you can pursue in your home or your locality, by yourself or with family members, or with friends online.
There are ideas and activities for people of all ages. This wellbeing information is on www.louthcoco.ie in a new section called ‘Wellbeing during COVID-19’.
The council encourages people to check this out and dip in and out regularly to try out some of the activities for both adults and children.
Louth County Council in the area of Arts, Community, Sports, Museum, Libraries, Heritage and Archives are providing a wide range of interesting activities for people to engage in.
The website directs users to local and national content, for example, art workshops, relaxation exercises, online book club, online jigsaws, children’s storytelling, theatre performances, sports drills, cocooning handbook, children’s games, video tours, quizzes as well as providing important information on supports for stress reduction, mental health issues and drug related challenges.
Regular posts on Twitter @Louthcoco and @Louthppn keep people continuously updated.
Don’t forget Louth Heritage, Louth Local Sports Partnership, Louth County Libraries, Louth County Archives, County Museum Dundalk and Creative Ireland Louth have Facebook pages showing all their activities.
So, take time out to relax, watch a concert, do a quiz, try something new and feel the benefits of engaging in positive material despite the difficult concerns you may be experiencing.
Arts Office staff have also been assisting the creative community by promoting national funding and mentoring opportunities and supports available as practitioners within the arts sector are now experiencing huge challenges from loss of earnings.
All the arts and creativity venues within Louth have re-directed their programming to online content in an effort to continue to serve the local community, and to support the professional artists.
Recognising the role that arts and creativity plays in supporting wellbeing, and the fact that people are no longer able to access concerts, festivals and artistic hobbies, the online cultural content has become a new way for people to experience, engage and enjoy.
To see what’s on and keep up to date with new online cultural activities check out the websites and social media platforms of An Táin Arts Centre, Creative Spark, Droichead Arts Centre and Highlanes Gallery.
