THE company behind the proposed development at the site of the former Roadstone plant on the Donore Road have applied for permission to make a number of changes to the original plan, it has been revealed.

Maybeck Limited had previously applied for, and been granted, permission for 66 new homes at the former batching plant adjacent to the Watery Hill steps on the Donore Road two years ago.

However, the company is now seeking amendments to the previous planning permission for the development, including the removal of the basement car park and proposed 28 surface car parking spaces located to the rear of Block A.

The company was granted permission to demolish all the existing structures on the site and replace these with three buildings, part four storey and part five storey, encompassing 66 residential units in total as well as the associated communal spaces.

Now, Maybeck are seeking approval for modifications to the 66 apartment layouts o accommodate elderly residents, comprising four one bedroom apartments, 54 two bedroom apartments and eight three bedroom apartments are proposed and this includes modifications to the elevations and sections to reflect the amended apartment layouts.

The amendments sought by the company also include modication of the positioning of the three blocks on the site and their composition as well as modification of the communal facility, bin stores and general landscaping.

There will be an adjustment to the existing vehicular site access off the Donore Road and an introduction of two new pedestrian site access points, one at the foot of the Water Steps with a proposed ESB substation and a second access point off the Donore Road as well as all associated amendments tothe roof plant, site lighting, signage, services, landscaping, external furniture, related infrastructure and site development.

The company was granted planning permission to redevelop the site back in June 2018.

It included the demolition of all existing structures and the removal of trees along the Donore Road.
