PARISH NEWS

Fr. Dooley & Fr. Caraher will celebrate Mass (without a congregation) for the intentions of parishioners. Mass will be offered each day for any intentions booked.

These are challenging times: each of us is struggling with our own individual circumstances: frontline work; reduced income; unemployment; anxiety; isolation; lack of routine; domestic tensions, and many other issues. Some parishioners are trying to facilitate other avenues of income for upkeep of the Parish; as we have no envelope income since Mass is being celebrated without a congregation. Parishioners, who wish to and are able to, might use one of the following: Standing order forms are available either in the porch of the church or we can post one to you if you message our Facebook page Mellifont Parish-Tullyallen.

The Parish have linked up with idonate to facilitate on-line donations. By clicking the link on our Facebook Page you will be brought to the Parish of Mellifont page where you will be given the opportunity to make a one-off OR regular donation to the Parish. The link is: https://www.idonate.ie/mellifontparish. Still others might wish to store up their envelopes for when ‘normal service’ resumes. Your support is gratefully appreciated these days.

The Church remains open daily at the moment from 9 am – 5 pm for quiet reflection and solitary prayer as we continue this Easter season. There are some small clean bottles of Holy Easter Water which have been carefully prepared in the church porch in a basket. We invite you to take a bottle for your household or for someone who is staying safe. Weekly bulletin is placed in church porch too.

During May we are promoting the age-old custom of the ‘May Altar’ in our homes.

We invite you to create a May Altar in your home as we celebrate the month of Mary.

It is hoped that this can be a prayer space for you and all families in their home in this month of May. Message us on our page with a photo of your May Altar from your home and we hope to upload them onto our Parish Facebook Page. Let’s celebrate Mary Our Mother in our homes together this May.

First Communion would have been celebrated on Saturday 9th of May in our parish but is now postponed. We invite you to keep our 2nd class pupils in your prayers that they will continue to grow in the loving friendship of Jesus and grow in the Spirit of God’s love in these days. Lord Jesus friend of children come to me.

TULLYALLEN MEDICAL CENTRE HERE FOR ALL CONCERNS

Tullyallen Medical Centre would like to say that people should not feel that you need to avoid contacting us for non-COVID-19 related concerns, as they are aware that the problems which we normally deal with, day in day out, have not gone away, and they are concerned that some people think they need to stay away altogether.

The pharmacy have been restocked with hand Sanatisers, Gloves, Face Masks, Soap, Wipes, Milton and Thermometers. Simply message them on facebook or Telephone on 041 983 7760 or email on tullyallenpharmacy@gmail.com. Leave a contact number and they will call you when it is ready. CENTRA DELIVERIES

Niall and the staff at Centra in the village know that some of the elderly in our community are staying at home as advised and that it might also be a little scary for some customers to go out and get their shopping.

If you do not feel comfortable going into the shop, Centra in the village will deliver to your home with no delivery charge (no matter what the cost of your shopping is) Centra would not want to see anybody stuck and says that if you call 041 9830496 with your list they will organize to get your delivery to you.

You can pay over the phone if you do not wish to have any contact with the delivery and your shopping can be dropped safely to your door.

THE EMMETS OFFER HELP IN THE COMMUNITY

There have been lots of people on social media offering to help the elderly or vulnerable or others in need of assistance in our parish by collecting groceries, fuel for the fire or prescriptions and the Glen Emmets in the heart of our village is no different. If you need or know of anyone who needs a little help and is isolated, please contact Joey on 087-8339568 or Cariona on 086-3203675 or Jack on 087- 2316722
