Call for town centre traders to complete survey

-

THE LOVEDROGHEDA Business Improvement District is asking Drogheda’s town centre business community to complete a ‘Restarting Drogheda’ survey.

They are looking for feedback on the safest and best way to start rebuilding footfall in a safe and secure manner, that provides confidence to customer, that Drogheda is a safe place to visit.

The Business Improvement District wants to identify actions that could be implemented throughout the town centre to assist with safe social distancing to ensure customers feel they can come into town and support local business in a safe manner.

“We are now entering our 9th week of lockdown. Many businesses have temporarily ceased trading. When the lockdown lifts, we want the people of Drogheda to support our local businesses, and do so knowing they feel safe visiting Drogheda Town Centre,” said CEO Trevor Connolly (pictured).

“We are working closely with other business groups and Louth County Council, to develop a return to trading plan that is safe and ensures Drogheda’s town centre businesses get back on their feet as soon as possible. One of the advantages of being a historic town is that we have excellent connectivity and permeability via our laneways and alleyways. This will assist in reducing walking times for town centre users and encourage implementation of safe Social Distancing protocols by reducing some of the traffic volume on our main streets. ”

They are looking for business owners’ opinions on a host of measures.

“This includes widening footpaths, the pedestrianisation of some streets, safe queuing systems, more street / outdoor seating for specific businesses such as cafes, restaurants and pubs, and other additional measures such as one way walking systems, access to hand sanitisers, Covid-19 staff training and designated trading hours for the older generation.” added Laurence St trader, Jackie Jolliffe.

The survey is open, to all Drogheda traders, until noon on Wednesday May 13th at the following link https://www. surveymonkey.com/r/DKQL8LY or via the LOVEDROGHEDA Facebook page.
