IT has become a firm favourite on people’s monthly calendars, and has been sorely missed during the pandemic lockdown.

So undeterred, if people can’t get to the Cottage Market Drogheda, they will bring it to you!

Organisers have decided to replace their July 4th Market with a Virtual Market, virtually bringing their makers to your home.

“We will be showcasing up to 30 local traders from our area, on the day it will take place on Instagram stories,” says organiser Eimear Cullen.

“We will feature products from an array of local makers, each of whom will tell you about their product, share a selection of photos of their items, and there will be swipe link to their Facebook, Instagram and websites.

“Sure, what else will you being doing on the 4th of July”?

The Cottage Market is hosted monthly in the fabulous grounds of St. Peter’s COI church and presents an eclectic mix of stalls, 30 in all, selling everything from bread, cakes, preserves, confectionary, olive oil, honey and olives, Indian Street food, chutneys and sauces, fruitn & veg , seedlings ,plants ,herbs & cut flower posies and jewellery, organic skincare, upcycled furniture, children’s books and activity packs, soy candles, textile creations, glass, copper and bespoke art and much more!!

“The market has made an impact locally and has fostered and celebrated the spirit of local enterprise,” adds Eimear. “Its success has affirmed the appreciation our consumers have for local produce and products created by small businesses in our wee County. We are delighted to announce that we have received great support from Drogheda Credit Union who are our new sponsor.”

Eimear founded the market a few years ago, and it has become a showcase of local produce and products - a place for local people to display their talents and shine.

“So, a pandemic hit and rips the essence of our local Cottage Market out from under our feet and we had to think on our feet with people shifting to online shopping so we too must move with the times,” sge adds. “If that’s what we have to do to reach and serve our local Makers and supporters, then that’s what we’ll do, So The Virtual Cottage Market Drogheda was born.”

The virtual event takes place on July 4th from 11-4pm, and will be a great way to keep followers up to date with all local makers without ever needing to leave their homes.
