Power hits out at 5G mast in Clogherhead
LOCAL Louth Councillor for Drogheda Rural area, Declan Power has hit out at the proposed location in Clogherhead for the new Eircom construction of an 18m high free standing communication structure with its associated antennae, communication dishes and ground equipment. The development will form part of Eircom Ltd existing telecommunications and broadband network with the installation of 5G technology.
“I have been in undated with complaints and concerns from local parents and residents from Clogherhead about the proposed location of the 5G mast” said Cllr Power, who is also a resident in the seaside village of Clogherhead.
“The issues raised are not necessarily related to the 3G, 4G, or 5G but the location of the mast which will be erected right beside a children’s playground, all weather football pitch, school, health care centre and several residential areas. We need to find a better solution and a better location away from such facilities.”
Apart from the fact that these masts are often unsightly, there is significant scientific debate surrounding the safety of 5G technology with public health being potentially put at risk.
“Placing a site notice under the noses of the good people of Clogherhead during a pandemic is ‘Shameful’ with very little scope for public consultation. “I will be placing an objection with Louth Co. Council and also liaising with the company over the coming days to discuss further.” said Cllr. Power. Objectors are welcome to email or write in to the Planning Section of Louth Co. Council, outlining their observation and include payment of €20. All payments can be taken by phone.
