A MESSAGE FROM OUR PARISH PRIEST, FR. PADDY RUSHE.

Continuing to support one another, it’s wonderful to see the easing of lockdown happening, and we are so grateful that the opening of our Churches for Mass has been brought forward to next Monday, 29th June. Of course, we can only continue to move forward with care - taking personal responsibility for hand & respiratory hygiene and keeping social distancing guidelines.

Without doubt, coming back to Mass will be a very different experience, and we need all our parishioners to co-operate with guidance and directions to ensure that Churches remain a safe place for all.

Because of the social distancing requirements, despite being large buildings, the numbers attending any one Mass will be much reduced.

The Irish Bishops have continued to remove ‘Sunday Obligation’ for Catholics to attend Mass. Therefore, if you would prefer to attend during the week, that might ease the pressure on Churches at weekends.

However, whenever they will happen, we will be so pleased to be able to gather together again in person for the celebration of Masses - and we look forward to seeing you all.

Thanks to all those who have already volunteered to assist the Churches with the additional cleaning and stewarding (& other roles) that will be required, and if you would like to help, please get in touch with the parish office.

We won’t forget about our online congregations once Masses begin in Churches again. Thank you to all connected with our parishes digitally during the lockdown and those who made it possible.

Bulletins continue to be available at the Churches, and we would encourage you to drop one into neighbours who cannot get out.

Starting 15th June, Baptisms were permitted, as well as weddings, but with small numbers - maximum 6 attending - and, of course, following all the protocols.

Funerals will be permitted to have up to 25 mourners in

Church.

These may seem small steps, but by moving slowly we can ensure that parishioners are protected as much as possible.

As many have said before, we all have to get used to a ‘new normal’ but hopefully within that we will find a new connection with Church, Parish and Community as we go forward.

Although we cannot as yet make regular house calls, priests are available on the telephone to all, and can make socially distanced visits by arrangement. Please get in touch if you feel we can be of help.

In the meantime, may God hold you in the palm of his hand, and bless you and your families with his everlasting peace!
