Clubs supporting €2m fundraiser for baby girl

-

THIS coming Sunday the GAA and LGFA clubs of Meath are coming together along with Garristown GFC in Dublin to solo a football for 75km in aid of a nine-month-old girl from Kentstown who needs to raise €2 million to get to America for treatment for Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 1.

This is the world’s most expensive treatment and without it Livie’s condition will continue to deteriorate and she is unlikely to live past her second birthday.

Rory’s Stories is spearheading this fundraiser and he will be taking the ball from Balrath to Garristown where Livie’s mother is originally from, after clubs have brought the relay from Laytown and Navan earlier in the day. The target amount to raise for this fundraiser is €20,000.

Leg 1 9am to 1.30pm: Navan to Balrath via Wiggers Cross, Yellow Furze and Kentstown, with club members from Navan O’Mahony’s GAA, Simonstown Gaels, Rathkenny and Seneschalstown soloing in relays for a total of 24km.

Leg 2 9am to 1.30pm: Pilltown to Balrath via Beamore and Duleek, with St Colmcille’s, St Patrick’s and Duleek Bellewstown soloing in relays, also for a total of 24km.

Leg 3 2.30 to 7.45pm: Balrath to Garristown via Kilmoon Cross, Curraha and Ashbourne, with Rory’s Stories accompanied along the route by Skryne, Curraha, Donaghmore/Ashbourne and Garristown GFC soloing in relays for a total of 27km.

The Meath GAA and LGA say they are delighted to support this event to help Livie get to America for her treatment and they are grateful to Meath Civil Defence and Ballymagarvey Village for their assistance on the day.
