CHURCH REOPENING FOR MASSES
Following guidelines from the Irish Bishops a support team of parishioners has been established to assist with the reopening of our Church for public Masses.
If the 2 metre distancing applies our church will accommodate approximately 100 people. The areas in the church where people can sit will be clearly indicated.
Family members will be seated together. Stewards will be available to guide peopleas they enter & leave the Church. People will maintain physical distance when entering and exiting the Church and particularly when approaching for Holy Communion. People are asked to maintain physical distancing in the Church grounds.
It is essential that Social distancing signage is followed. Please do not come to mass if you have any of the symptoms, i.e. High Temperature, Shortness of Breath, Breathing Difficulties or a Cough. For parishioners, particularly those who are cocooning, sick and aged, the dispensation from attending Sunday Mass remains.
However, they are invited if they wish, to attend Mass on weekday rather than on weekends. This will help the decreased church capacity.
The Priest & Ministers of the Eucharist will sanitise their hands & wear a facemask while distributing Holy Communion. Holy Communion can only be received in the hand. The host will be placed on the hand without physical contact.
There will be no Altar servers until the threat of the Covid-19 has been eradicated. There will be one reader for Readings & Prayers at each Mass.
There will be no offertory procession at Sunday Mass or Funerals. There will be no sign of peace. There will not be any holy water in the fonts.
Offertory Collection & Envelopes will be placed in supervised boxes as you enter the Church. People are asked to sanitize their hands on entering & exiting the Church. Bulletins must be brought home and not left in the Church after reading.
The Church will be cleaned/ sanitized after each Mass. Toilet facilities will not be available. It is crucial that all these provisions are adhered to. Indeed, the resumption of public Masses is contingent on such adherence.
Please co-operate with the Stewards who are there for your Health, Safety and Welfare.
Pope Francis said ‘it remains necessary to follow the rules in force carefully because they are rules that help us to prevent the virus from spreading’.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
To ensure that Public Masses can continue we need volunteers to steward and sanitise the Church at each Mass. Please leave your name, address & phone no. under the Sacristy door or in the Presbytery.
