Local band crashes into chart at top spot

- By ALISON COMYN

JUST one week after its release, local band Pale Blue Moon is currently riding high in the charts with their latest single ‘It’s Not Real’.

It’s the latest twist in a year packed with success for the Drogheda four-piece, and comes just ahead of their debut album ‘ The Pleasure of Finding Things Out’ on July 27th.

“It’s been a bizarre few months for everyone, but especially in the entertainment industry, and we are delighted the way things are going regardless,” says Shane. “It’s diffcult when you can’t do the usual promotional work, gigs or touring with a new album, but to be topping the charts even before the album comes out is fantastic.”

Pale Blue Moon crashed into the iTunes Ireland Rock charts at number two with their debut single ‘Supernatural’ last year and the accompanying music video has already surpassed 830,000 views on YouTube to date.

Shane is vocalist and guitarist, along with fellow band members Griff (Brian Griffin) on drums and guitarists Tadhg McDonnell - Leahy and Mick Brady, and mixing a dark and compelling blend of influences and imagery, Pale Blue Moon bring an interesting twist to the Goth Rock genre.

“At the moment, our fan base in mostly mainland Europe, especially Germany and the Netherlands, but the message is getting out to Ireland and the UK, and even America,” explains Shane, who has previously toured all those countries with Shane Macgowan and the Popes.

“This album “The Pleasure of Finding Things Out” has been described as somewhere between The Cult and the Cure – back to basics melodic rock and roll and has been a real labour of love for me and the band,” says Shane,

The single has been picked up by Kerrang! radio in the UK and they will give the single its UK debut airing on Kerrang! Radio this week, and the album “The pleasure of finding things out” is available to pre-order now on iTunes.
