Sadness at the death of Mrs Peter Lyons

-

The town has been saddened by the death of Mrs Peter Lyons.

Gifted with a natural talent for business she was the mainstay of her husband, the late Mr Peter Lyons, in the building up of the great concern which is controlled bv their family to-day.

Her husband’s death occurred just two years ago and she is survived by two sons and three daughters all of whom take a live practical interest in the extensive business built up by their parents and are widely known amongst the master bakers not only of Ireland but of neighbouring countries.

To speak of the late Mrs. Lyons’s good qualities would be superfluous. Gentle in manner and in disposition she enjoyed not only the respect but also the affection of all with whom she came in contact. Kind and charitable to a fault, many poor Drogheda people who partook of her unostentatious generosity will shed a tear at the passing of a good friend. Her talents were not only of the commercial order Deeply read, well-versed in current affairs, she was a delightful conversationalist and took a keen interest in everything affecting the well-being of her native town. She had a well-cultivated taste too, for good music, and was a generous patron of local theatrical and musical ventures as well as being an inveterate supporter of the Gate, the Abbey and the Peacock Theatres. Above all she was an intensely fervid and practical Catholic and until her last illness was a regular attendant at daily Mass.

We join with the people of the town and district in tendering deepest sympathy to her bereaved family.—R.I.P.
