PATRON

The patron takes place in Limbrick cemetery on Sunday, June 26, with mass in the cemetery weather permitting at 2.30 p.m.

There will be limited parking available in the graveyard and we would ask that able bodied people would leave this parking for the elderly and those less able to walk. Please follow the parking stewards instructio­ns. People are asked to tidy their graves and to take home their rubbish.

WHIST

First lady at last week’s whist was won by Sadie Mordaunt; second lady was May Doyle; third lady was Mary Lee half; time lady was Eileen Furlong first gent was Marie Cushe; second gent was Donal Kavanagh; third gent was Cyril Bryan and half time gent was Annie Slator; student prize was won by Ross Bailey; raffle winners on the night were Eileen Furlong Nancy Forde and Ross Bailey whist continues on Wednesday night at 8.30 p.m.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY AGM

The first AGM of Old Kilnenor Historical Society will take place Thursday, June 23, at 8.30 p.m. in Ballyfad Hall. All are welcome. GAA CLUB NOTES

The Adult leagues are back for the next few weeks. See wexfordgaa.ie/fixtures. The under-8 footballer­s hosted Buffers Alley on the 18th. The under-8 hurlers host Askamore on Saturday, June 25, at 11 a.m. The under-10 footballer­s were in Kilrush on June 17 and the under-10 hurlers travel to Craanford on Friday, June 24, at 7 p.m.

The under-12 cancelled football game v Sarsfields, now takes place in Kilanerin on Saturday, July 9, and the under-12 hurlers host the Rock, Davidstown on Tuesday, June 21, at 7.30 p.m. The under-14 hurlers are away in Fethard on Thurs 23rd. Bring a snack. The under-16s and under-18s are still on exam break.

Meanwhile, the girls under-12s are in championsh­ip at home on Thursday, June 22, at 6.30 p.m. and the under-14 girls host Castletown on Tuesday, June 21, at 7.30 p.m., also in championsh­ip. So a lot of home fixtures, on lovely summer evenings, to come out and support.

Team of the week goes to the Girls under-14 footballer­s who scored 6-3 in the second half against Tinahely to earn a draw. It was a marvellous team performanc­e. The same girls traveled to Fethard the day previous for a camogie match, narrowly going down to a very strong home team. Tuesday, June 21, is an opportunit­y to cheer these girls on v Castletown.

ICA GUILD

The Ballyfad ICA summer outing is taking place on Wednesday, July 6, departing Ballyfad at 8.30 p.m. taking in the National Museum of Ireland Collins Barracks for a guided tour of ‘Proclaim a Republic of the 1916 Rising’ and to visit the new GPO museum and time for shopping. We will be stopping off at the Parkview Hotel Newtownmou­ntkennedy on the way home.

COLLECTION THANKS

Friends of Gorey Hospital wish to thank everbody who contribute­d to their collection in Kilanerin and Ballyfad. The amount collected was €188.70.

MEMORIAL RUN

The Jim Carton Memorial run takes place on Sunday, July 3, at 11 a.m. Registrati­on from 10 a.m. in Ballyfad Hall five mile road run and three mile walk into Ballyfad wood. €10 entry fee children free. Prizes for first three males and first three females home. Proceeds to charity. medals for all who finish. Refreshmen­ts afterwards.
