A workshop for adults who would like to sing for fun at family events, parties or even in the shower will be held in Ballymitty on Saturday, June 25 from 10 am to 5 pm. Vocalist Aideen Ni Riada and pianist Declan Cosgrove will facilitate the event with the aim of helping you to find your voice and develop your confidence in singing. Among the skills covered will be singing in tune and moving from high notes to low notes. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Expect hilarious analysis of some key moments during Euro 2016. Watch Peter Collins try to control the lads as Giles takes each game on its merits ands Chippy struggles with the smell of stale Bollinger off Eamo. There will be reserve team antics from Ronnie, Frank, Didi, Kenny, Vincent Browne, Joan Burton, Mary O’ Rourke, George Hook, Paul Durcan and Bono. Nobody is safe in this touring comedy showdown. SUMMER SOLSTICE IN BUNCLODY
Artbank Gallery, until July 20
A Summer Solstice exhibition of paintings, sculptures, photographs, prints and stained glass will open in the Artbank Gallery in Bunclody on June 20, running until July 20. All 50 exhibits have been created by artists from Wexford, Carlow and Wicklow on the theme of the solstice. An adjudicator’s award will be presented to one lucky artist who will be offered their own show in the gallery. The Artbank gallery opens from Tuesday to Saturday from 2pm to 6pm daily.
STILL LIFE WORKSHOP
New Ross Libary, June 28
A still life drawing workshop for adults conducted by the illustrator and concept art creator JG O’ Donoghue will be held in New Ross Library on Tuesday, June 28. Admission is free but contact the library on 051 421877 in advance to book a place.
SCIENCE FICTION IN THE LIBRARY
Wexford Library, June 30
‘The Sign of One’ author Eugene Lambert will visit Wexford Library on Thursday, June 30 at 7pm to talk about his debut young adult science fiction novel which was shortlisted for the Bath Novel Award. The book is described as The Hunger Games meets Guardians of the Galaxy and is the first in a forthcoming trilogy. Eugene who has an MA in writing for young people, will talk about his journey as a writer, his writing process and inspiration. Booking is advised.
BYRNE PERRY SUMMER SCHOOL OPENING
Gorey Library, June 24
The official opening of the Byrne Perry Summer School will be performed in Gorey Library on Friday, June 24 at 8 p.m. by Sinn Fein Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald. The opening lecture ‘1916, What Happened Next’ will be delivered by Patsy McGarry, religious affairs correspondent of the Irish Times.
