SENIOR CITIZENS

The annual Ecumenical Service will be held in St Saviour’s Church Arklow on Thursday, June 30, at 8 p.m., Light refreshmen­ts served afterwards in the beautiful new hall situated in the grounds of the church.

On Wednesday, July 20, the Group will go on the annual Tour. This year the group will visit Collins Barracks and will receive a guided tour which will contain some lovely exhibits from the 1916 Rising. There will be some time for shopping in Dundrum Shopping Centre and dinner will be held in the Arklow Bay that evening. Cost of bus, guided tour of the Barracks and Dinner is €32. Please see any member of the Senior Citizens’ Committee or call 087 7911685 if you are interested in coming on this day out.

TIDY TOWNS

The committee are appealing for all the help they can get for litter picking, as June and July are the important Months when the judges are visiting to assess the marks, so please give a few minutes of your time to help out, they Fás workers have been doing a great job with the flowers around the local signs with the flower beds.

POSITIVE AGEING

The Arklow Positive Ageing Group, are running a Bus to the Curragh Races on July 16 for the Irish Oaks Day. Bus will leave the Tesco car park at 12.30 p.m. for the Races, with the cost of €20. If you are interested in travelling, contact Gertie at 086 0817534.

DRAMA FESTIVAL

Coolgreany’s Independen­t annual Festival of One Act Comedy and Drama will happen as usual in October with Martin Maguire as adjudicato­r. This year the dates are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, October 26, 27 and 28. There will be far fewer available slots this year as Coolgreany are producing at least three home grown plays. Birthday greetings to Seán Kavanagh, Newtown who celebrates his eighth birthday tomorrow Wednesday, June 29; also Alex Brogan, Knockgrean­y who celebrates his fifth birthday on Thursday, June 30.

Well done to Patsy Murray on being presented with a Hall of Fame award for his services to Local Handball over a long number of years. The presentati­on was made by the President of the Handball Associatio­n Willie Roche.

SUMMER FUN

St Mogue’s Community Childcare in Inch are holding summer camps for four – eight-year-olds from July 4 to July 8, July 11 to July 15. July 18 to July 22 or July 25 to July 25 to July 29 from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. Cost is €60 per child. Activities will include indoor and outdoor games, themed activities, baking, weaving, junk couture and many more.
