THANKS

Dear Friends, thanks for last weekend which was a special experience in the life of the parish. On Saturday evening we celebrated with Paddy and Anne Whitty on the occasion of their Golden Jubilee marking 50 years of happy married life. It was an occasion filled with joy and laughter, a truly inspiring and uplifting celebration.

On Sunday morning we welcomed Bishop Denis and other guests to our parish to officially open the recently completed Underpass. It was a happy occasion for us to welcome back Fr Tommy Doyle and Anne to the parish and to have Fr Felix join us too.

We were honoured by the presence of Fr Willy Howell, Vicar of the Gorey Deanery and Mr Michael D’arcy, TD and councillors of the Gorey Municipal District, including Mr Malcolm Byrne, Cathaoirleach. Thanks to them all for taking time out of their busy schedules to be with us.

The wet weather did not succeed in dampening the enthusiasm of politicians, clergy or people.

A very large crowd attended the Ceremony of Blessing and Ribbon Cutting at the entrance to the Underpass and then all walked through to the school where the children did us proud as they performed their Walton’s Music for Schools winning entry.

We sung Happy Birthday to Kathleen Kelly. Following speeches we walked back through the Underpass to the Community Hall for refreshments and a surprise singing of Happy Birthday to Bishop Denis who shared his birthday cake with Mark (aged 12) whose birthday also occurred.

Thanks to the members of the parents’ association and their friends who catered wonderfully for everyone. All in all, it was a great success. Well done everyone. Sincerely, Fr Richard.

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION

Craanford National School parents’ association asks you to get involved and be part of a great group working together for the good of the school where your children attend.

We will regroup in September and look forward to new faces joining. Best wishes to our sixth class pupils as they embark on their new journey to secondary school. Many thanks to everyone who helped in any way to make the officially opening of the underpass such a success, it was a great community day.
