RURAL SOCIAL SCHEME
Fiona Byrne, who helps organise RSS schemes in Co. Wexford is currently updating their list of community organisations which wish to avail of the RSS employment scheme. Any group or voluntary organisation interested in availing of the scheme is asked to contact Fiona at 087 0572951 or 053 9155864.
These organisations help with village and community enhancement, social care of the elderly, care for pre-school and after-school groups, environmental work, maintenance of community and sporting facilities and energy conservation work for the elderly and less well off, as well as other iniatives. The RSS workers can be employed for 19.5 hours a week.
CAMOGIE NEWS
Well done to the club’s under-12 team which won their second league match on Tuesday night last beating Ballygarrett after a hard fought encounter.
GAA NEWS
On Tuesday night, the under-12 hurlers won as well, beating Duffry Rovers by 1-8 to 1-5 giving them two wins out of two outings so far. The team performed very well with Fionn Walsh scoring 1-4, James Donnelly 0-1, James DeLacey 0-1, Adam Power 0-1 and Chris Kelly 0-1.
The on Saturday, June 25, the under-8s fielded three teams against Shelmaliers. All the teams displayed great skill and courage and among the stars were Aaron Carthy, Ryan Walsh, Ronán Sweeney, Michael Somers, Seán Lacey, Liam Brennan and Pádraig Hyland.
The previous evening the under-10s shared honours with St Martin’s in Piercestown. In a tough game, they dominated the last quarter and created lots of chances. Man-of-the-match was Jack Turner for his simple direct defense while two of the best scores in the game were points from Leon Doran. Ronan Egan and Seán Walsh were impressive as well.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Lee McHale and Colm McGannon who won All-Ireland medals on Sunday of last week, playing with the Wexford-North under-17 hurling team that beat Dublin by 4-13 to 1-15 in Nowlan Park in Kilkenny. These two heroes delighted the underage hurlers on Wednesday evening by bringing their magnificent medals to training and giving the young lads some tips on skills and training techniques.
CÚL CAMPS BOOKING
The Cúl Camp in Monageer will run from the eighth. till August 12 and will cater for Gaelic football, hurling and camogie. The cost for is €55 for the first child in a family, €45 for the second child booked and €40 each for third and fourth children. SOCCER SUMMER CAMP
St Cormac’s AFC are hosting an FAI soccer camp and this will run from the July 11 to July 15. The cost for the five days is only €65 and places can be booked online at summersoccerschools.ie.
MINISTERS OF THE WORD
The Ministers of the Word on duty next weekend in St Cormac’s are Caroline Farrington at the Vigil Mass on Saturday night and Éinín Rossiter at the 11 a.m. Mass in Sunday the third. of July. On Saturday evening, July 2, Georgina Gahan is the Eucharistic minister on duty while Dorothy Hall will help distribute Holy Communion on Sunday morning.
