Ballinteskin Par3 Golf is a challenging nine-hole golf course

-

BALLINTESKIN Par3 Golf is a challenging ninehole golf course. In 1995 the former agricultural land was transformed by course designer Michael Burns and PLK Golf Construction Limited to full course standard. Celebrating its 21th year anniversary this year, Ballinteskin opened its gates to the public in 1995 with local man James Whitty being the first customer of the fledgling business.

The greens and tees are sand-based and have never water-logged so the course stays open all year round from dawn till dusk. Each green is surrounded by steep mounds and deep bunkers that challenge the very best golfers. The hole distances range from 89 metres to 160 metres so all levels are catered for.

Among the customers have been societies from Wexford, Waterford and Kilkenny; Transition Year Students from Good Counsel College, Active Retirement Groups and families holding their own competitions.

It is hard to think of one unique selling point for Ballinteskin Par3 because it has many. The Fairy Ring, which you play over on the 7th hole, is surely unique to any golf course anywhere! The Rath was originally intended to host the green but the supersti-tious men on diggers said no and the course had to be redesigned! All visitors to the course are charmed by the greeting they get from the many animals found at Ballinteskin. Whether it is the donkeys neighing from the car park, the ducks waddling up by the putting green or the two labradors, Diego and Meig.
