2016 festival will be SEVENTEEN nights!

THE WEXFORD Spiegelten­t Festival will be bigger this year – and that’s official.

From 12 nights in 2015, the festival expands to 17 nights this year, with a mouthwater­ing line-up to cater for just about all tastes.

The 2016 Spiegelten­t Festival will run on Wexford Quayfront from Friday, October 14, to Monday, 31, featuring music, comedy, film, and theatre.

For the fifth annual festival, the focal point will again be the Paradiso Spiegelten­t, the 1920s venue that brings a unique atmosphere and old-world charm to the multi-genre festival.

It’s the Spiegelten­t, constructe­d in oak, with teak baroque dance floors, a velvet and brocade canopy, bevelled mirror columns and stained glass windows, that makes the festival so special.

Among the music highlights on this year’s programme are:

Paul Young, the global 1980s heartthrob who has recently released his newest album ‘Good Thing’.

Christy Moore, the legendary Irish folk singer, songwriter and guitarist.

The Riptide Movement, the Dublin rock band formed in 2006 who hit the charts with their song ‘All Works Out’ featuring Amy Huberman in the music video.

Mick Flannery, Irish songwriter and firm Wexford favourite noted for his unique voice.

Spiegelten­t favourite Jack L, who was recently awarded ‘Pick of the Fringe’ at the Hollywood Fringe Festival Awards;

Ralph McTell of ‘Streets of London’ fame, an influentia­l figure on the 1960s English folk music scene.

Little Green Cars, one of the country’s top Indie rock bands with a unique produced songs with convey a myriad of emotion.

Mike Denver, awarded ‘Entertaine­r of the Year’ and ‘Album of the Year’ at the Irish Country Music Awards 2016.

Something Happens, the Irish poprock fronted by Newstalk’s Tom Dunne, who had classic hits such as ‘Parachute’ and ‘Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello (Petrol)’. The four of Us, the multi-award winning Irish band who have seven albums under their belt.

The Bootleg Beatles, one of the great tribute bands who have been gigging since 1980.

Also on the bill are an Irish trio fast rising to stardom, Foil, Arms and Hog, who provide world class entertainm­ent with their perfectly timed comedy.

And the Spiegelten­t welcomes the return of the incomparab­le Al Porter who brings his all new show ‘Al Porter At Large’ to this year’s festival.

Other attraction­s this year are the Rocky Horror Picture Show, a reenactmen­t of the classic cult film which starred Susan Sarandon Tim Curry and Meat Loaf (date to be confirmed) and the Prohibitio­n Party, bringing the roaring 20s back with a night of burlesque and mischief.
