KIA Ora Mini Farm, Gorey, was recently announced as the winner of the 2016 AIB North Wexford Business Award for Tourism.

The announcement was made at a well-attended Gorey Chamber lunch in The Rowan Tree restaurant in The Ashdown Park Hotel.

The other nominees for the tourism award were: The Amber Springs Hotel; Ballymore Historic Features, Camolin; Tara Meadows Holiday Park, Ballymoney; Upton Court Hotel and Holiday Cottages, Kilmuckridge; and Wexford Lavender Farm, Inch.

The business community in North Wexford cast their votes in the previous weeks. Sinead O’Sullivan of Gorey Chamber and Keith Groarke of AIB were on hand to announce the winner at the event.

Keith, representing the sponsors AIB, congratulated Kia Ora Mini Farm on the win. ‘ Tourism is a highly important part of the local regional and national economy,’ he said. ‘ This award celebrates and recognises the work of the O’Donoghue family that has seen Kia Ora Mini Farm become one of the best family activity attractions in Wexford.’

Congratulating all the nominees, he added that they clearly show that North Wexford has much to offer. ‘You can see real merit in marketing North Wexford as the activity hub on the east coast of Ireland for the day tripper, weekender and the wider domestic and international market,’ he said.

Maura O’Donoghue, proprie- tor of Kia Ora, thanked all who voted for the popular attraction.

She was presented with a certificate framed by The Gaslamp Gallery on Esmonde Street, and a piece of Crannmore Pottery which was sourced from Market House Design in Gorey Market House.
