THE DUFFRY SOCIAL CLUB
Thirty four members of the Duffry Social Club had a most enjoyable day out in Carlow on Thursday last week.
Their first stop was at the beautiful Arboretum Lifestyle and Garden Centre in Leighlinbridge, then on to Carlow Cathedral and a very interesting tour of St Patrick’s College one of Ireland’s most historic and educational institutions founded in 1782, which was a seminary up till 1990 and now a college of humanities for lay people with some 700 students. A college where some notable bishops and professors were educated, the extensive building now also houses a state of the art library and the George Bernard Shaw Theatre.
The group finished their day with a lovely dinner in the Dolmen Hotel.
