Excitement ahead of the Enniscorthy Rockin’ Food Festival

- By MARIA PEPPER

IF MUSIC BE the food of love then Enniscorthy will have it all over the August bank holiday weekend with food and music aplenty at the Rockin’ Food Festival from Friday, July 29, to Sunday, July 31.

Free live music gigs will be held in various locations around the town during the weekend along with artisan food stalls, craft and beer markets and a tapas trail providing fun and entertainment for foodies, music lovers, craft enthusiasts and movie buffs.

A highlight will be a cookery demonstration by celebrity chef Edward Hayden who launched the event under floating umberellas in Slaney Street in the company of mini-chefs Roc n’Roll and Mad Hatters.

There will also be free outdoor movie screenings of Brooklyn which was filmed in Enniscorthy and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Younger festival goers can enjoy a Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea Party, treasure hunt, magician and Punch and Judy shows, a Junior 1798 Rebel March, ancient story-telling, bungee trampolines and carousels.

Whether you want to rock it out to 1950s rock’n’roll, rockabilly and rhythm’n’blues music or indulge your taste buds, you won’t be lost for entertainment.

The rock’n’roll gig trail is a must and after that it will be a tough decision as to whether you should follow the tapas, craft beer, gin, whiskey or cocktail trails.
