BEST PUB VIBE COMPETITIO­N GETS UNDER WAY IN 7 PUBS

Gorey is alive with music this month as seven local pubs get their groove on for the Best Pub Vibe competitio­n.

The competitio­n which was launched last Friday in McGovern’s aims to find a local pub that gets punters into the swing of the entertainm­ent with its live music and amazing vibes.

The competitio­n will run until July 29 when the final pub in the compe- tition, Katie Day’s, will host B and the Honeyboy.

The seven pubs that have been nominated for Best Pub Vibe 2016 are McGovern’s, who had Dave Clark playing to the crowd last Friday night. Breen’s Bar who had the Blackstair­s Rebel Band playing on Sunday night.

This Thursday, Aris Trad Band will be representi­ng French’s Bar from 10pm. On Friday, there will be an acoustic session in The Fowler while on Saturday, the Heartbeats will be playing in the Loch gCarman Arms.

On Sunday night Lone Star will be live in Bob’s Bar and on Friday, July 29, B and the Honeyboy take to stage in Katie Daly’s.

All music events in the seven bars are free entry.

The competitio­n culminates during the Gorey Market House Festival which will also feature a vibrant mix of music, family fun, traditiona­l and vintage markets, busking, food, crafts and much more. There will also be a number of art, historical and craft exhibition­s happening throughout the town over the festival weekend including the Gorey Art Circle Annual Exhibition, Market house Design Summer Exhibition & Gorey Historical Society- Gorey in Bye Gone Days.
