Master jam maker Margaret Corcoran will give a jam and scone making demo in Gorey Library on Wednesday, July 20, at 2.30 p.m. The winners of the jam making competitio­n will also be announced.

On Wednesday evening, Foulksmill­s village in south Wexford will host its quirky duck racing festival, which is great fun for all the family.

The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and this year’s attraction­s include fun and games for all the family. The Sweepstake­s Duck Race is the main event each year and there will be commentary from the riverside of the River Corach, followed by the human river race. ANDRÉ RIEU CONCERT

André Rieu’s 2016 Maastricht concert will play in Movies@Gorey on Saturday, July 23, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, July 24, at 3 p.m.

It will play at the Omniplex Cinema, Rosslare Road, Wexford, at the same times.

Rieu’s legendary annual Maastricht concert is the most eagerly anticipate­d cinema event of the year, last year setting new box office records in several countries. The concert is approximat­ely three hours, with a 15-minute intermissi­on. The concert is recorded several days prior to the cinema screening.

On Saturday, July 23, at 6 p.m. at Rosslare Community Centre, there will be a gallery opening and the Historical Society’s fifth book launch. View unique prints of Rosslare’s fifth journal ‘Rosslare in History 5’ with an opportunit­y to purchase. Historian Brian Murphy and editor Gerry Breen will talk about Rosslare and its history. Gorey Cycling Club will host this year’s Wexford Cycling County Road Race Championsh­ips on Saturday, July 23. Craanford GPA is hosting a charity clay pigeon shoot, ’40 bird sporting over five stands’ in aid of the Craanford community underpass on Sunday, July 24, at Dan Byrne’s, Banntown, starting at 1 p.m. Last entry will be taken at 4 p.m. The venue will be signposted from the N11 at Clough, and Craanford village. SAND SCULPTING FESTIVAL Duncannon’s annual Sand Sculpting Festival will this year take place from Friday, August 5, through to Sunday, August 7.

Duncannon Beach has hosted the festival for over 25 years now which revolves around profession­al sand sculptures which are created every year with a different theme (nominal charge applies to see the sculptures). The Amateur Sand Sculpting Competitio­n is open to all to enter with no age restrictio­ns.

In addition, visitors can enjoy the spectacula­r firework display over the bay of Duncannon, open air music and open air street entertainm­ent – all of which are free. Other events include beach games, wall painting and sports activities.

QUAYSIDE SESSIONS
