Droopys has good draw

-

THIS THURSDAY night’s card at Enniscorthy Dog Track features the final of the Horse and Hound Tri-Distance Stake over the 575yard trip, and the longer run to the bend could play a big part in determining where the winner’s cheque of €1,700 will go.

The draw has played its part also, and the Frazer Black-trained Droopys Clement is perfectly drawn in trap one. Although Droopys has not won a heat, the trap and the distance tick all the boxes this week for him to score.

Semi-final winners Stripe Mary and My Céilí will also be big players, while Tagalong Roy looks badly drawn in trap six. Our Little Dolly may find the trip beyond her, and Tycoon Prince will be running on and may well grab a place. In conclusion, Droopys Clement is my idea of the winner.

It was a very good night last Thursday for the husband and wife combination of Larry and Pauline Byrne when recording a fine treble in the first three races, and they will now be represented in two finals on Thursday when a great night’s racing can be expected.

The Island Hunt fundraising night was run on Monday of last week and there was a very good turn-out as to be expected.

The Summer Open Unraced Stake featured on track with five first round heats run. Heat two saw a good novice in the shape of Tinahue Storm overcome the trap one draw to come through by the third bend to score going away in a good 29.28.

The other eye-catcher was Whoops Jack in heat four, striding home a clear winner in a fast 29.05. It will be interesting to see if any of the other contestants can come on to challenge for outright honours in the coming weeks.
