Leading ladies honoured
LAST FRIDAY night saw the Wexford Women’s League present awards to the various divisional top scorers and players of the year as well as a few special awards.
The event was attended by former W.F.A.I. Honorary Secretary Pauline O’Shaughnessy who thanked the league for their invitation and congratulated all winners, while also wishing everyone involved in the league the best of luck for the new season which isn’t too far away.
Chairman Daire Doyle thanked everyone for attending while also complimenting the committee for all their hard work in a very difficult season.
Players of the year presented were: Premier Division, Kellie Mullan (Seaview United); Division 1, Niamh Kelly (Adamstown); Division 2A, Louise Hammel (St. Joseph’s); Division 2B, Lauren Nolan (Courtown Hibs).
Top scorers were as follows: Premier Division, Liz Evered (Ferns United); Division 1, Katrina Parrock (Kilmore United); Division 2A, Sara Byrne (Corach Ramblers); Division 2B, Gina Foley (Cloughbawn A.F.C.).
Tom ‘Flash’ Dunne was made an honorary life member of the league in recognition of his hard work with the league over the past 30 years, while Pauline O’Shaugh- nessy was also presented with a hall of fame award.
All Blacks were announced as club of the year for the 2015-’16 season, a deserving award for a club which has supported the women’s and schoolgirls league since 1987.
The league would also like to thank Marie Slevin and the Wexford I.F.A. Centre for the use of their premises.
The league’s A.G.M. will take place this Wednesday in the Wexford Farm Centre on Mill Park Road, Enniscorthy, at 8 p.m.
All clubs are reminded that they are obliged to attend and may be fined for non-attendance.
